my glasses
Blue frames are hard to find, so i have to buy more than one pair whenever i find a source. there’s some problem with the exact blue plastic material that i like (bright, transparent); the people at selima optique, in nyc, from whom i bought my current everyday pair, tell me that they can no longer get that color. why? (no answer to that.) that pair is at top right in this picture, and i’ve been wearing them for just over three years now, and that’s about their lifetime. after about that long they start to look…well, used. my eye doctor, dr noelbis cid (what a great name that is!) hates them. absolutely hates them. and tells me so in no uncertain terms. we are friends, so it’s ok. we laugh about it. the darkest pair, in the bottom row were a present from rowland; he found them in italy; but they aren’t made any more. (others in the picture are glasses-in-waiting, or reading glasses, or reading in the sun glasses.)
